DIEEC is committed to providing quality professional learning experiences by creating and sustaining a responsive, data-driven system for enhancing the knowledge and skills of the early childhood workforce. We partner with other state, nonprofit, and educational organizations to ensure a high-quality early care and education system in Delaware. Click on the blue boxes below to learn more about our professional learning experiences and how your training can get quality assured.
For the Early Childhood Professional
All Quality-Assured (QA) Training:
- Is aligned with the Early Learning Foundations, School-Age or Early Childhood Competencies.
- Is evidence-based, reflects best practice, is rooted in the latest research in early childhood education, and is responsive to each learner.
- Has objectives and outcomes that are linked to the training, with ongoing assessment. For more details see the Training Matrix (PDF File).
- Is responsive to the learner and follows the adult learning principles.
- Must go through a rigorous quality assurance process, and all approved instructors must meet the requirements of subject matter expert.
DIEEC develops, approves, delivers, and coordinates Quality Assured professional learning experiences (PLE). Quality-Assured PLEs consist of three levels of training:
All QA training sponsored by DIEEC or other approved sponsoring organizations or instructors will be advertised on the training calendar.
To register, create a profile in the registry and click on the training calendar. Successful completion of QA training hours will be reflected on your personal transcript, which can be accessed on your training profile.

QA Conferences & PD Opportunities
To recognize high-quality professional learning experiences that are offered outside of Delaware, DIEEC, with the Department of Education, has developed a comprehensive list of professional development conferences and opportunities that meet the quality-assured specifications. These training opportunities will be considered introductory training hours, unless otherwise specified.
Sponsoring Organizations
DIEEC partners with several different organizations to offer quality-assured training opportunities. All training that is quality assured and offered by these organizations will be listed on the registry for you to register.
Receiving QA Credit for Approved Out-of-State Professional Development
The conferences and professional development opportunities listed will not be reflected on a DIEEC transcript. It is the responsibility of the participant to register to receive Continuing Education Units (CEU), Continuing Education Credits, or receive proper documentation in the form of a certificate or transcript from each conference or workshop. Keep a record of each training or workshop in order for it to be reviewed at a verification visit. For each conference attended, a professional will receive a maximum of 6 QA hours, unless a CEU certificate from IACET with documentation of CEU hours is provided. (This certificate is usually provided for an additional cost.)
If you believe there is an out-of-state conference or training opportunity that meets the Quality Assured criteria and is not on the list, please send an email to DIEEC at ecinstitute@udel.edu for review.
We will notify you of the decision 45 days after your request. If it meets the standard of QA it will be added to this list and updated on the DIEEC website.
For Instructors/Agencies
Professional Learning Curriculum Approval
DIEEC designs, delivers, and evaluates training based on adult learning theories, research, and models. Since curriculum used in child care is approved by alignment with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework and Delaware Professional Competencies, along with other essential criteria, our commitment is that professional development will be similarly aligned.
To deliver quality-assured professional development to Delaware’s early care and education workforce, there is a two-step process for three years of approval. Learn more about how to apply on our Sponsoring Organizations page.
